Gears & Goo | Launch Trailer – Behind the Scenes
Client: Resolution Games | Platform: Apple Vision Pro | Type: Launch Trailer
Gears & Goo is a spatial puzzle game from Resolution Games and an Apple Design Award finalist. We shot the launch trailer with a small crew out of the DualNorth apartment studio in Stockholm.
The shoot used two Apple Vision Pro headsets — one for first-person POV gameplay capture, one as a physical stand-in for our actress within the play space. It’s a simple enough setup, but it let us show the experience from the player’s perspective while keeping her visually grounded in the game world. For the cinematic moments, we composited in-game characters directly into the real environment so they could interact with her naturally.
We also played around with a photogrammetry scan of the apartment, bringing the geometry into Unity as a skydome and locking a virtual camera to some of the in-game characters. It gave us an interesting shot — game characters moving through a real-world space with a motivated camera following them. One of those approaches that’s fun to experiment with and turned out well.
Another great project with the team at Resolution Games.
